Resources
This resource list is still under construction but I hope it's helpful for you... in the meantime, feel free to contact me if you would like further information on any of these resources:
"Leap mindfully into the flow..."
- Dailygood and Daily Om - browse through their archives, or sign up for for useful, inspiring daily emails (I find Daily Om particularly interesting)
- how happy are you? take a useful happiness survey (click on the VIA Signature Strengths questionnaire) and then use the results to tap your top 5 strengths as resources and compassionately develop your 'bottom' 5 strengths.
- volunteering - this is a great site to evaluate options for connection into and giving back to the community in your area...involvement with others is a wonderful way to appreciate how good our lives really are.
- a year to live: how to live this year as if it were your last - read the small yet luminous book and/or consider becoming part of a small group; save money and trees by buying the book second-hand on amazon (all the book references on this page link to amazon.com where you can click through on the 'used and new' tab to purchase second-hand books I've always found to be in as-new condition)
- body wisdom: tap into the wisdom and intuition that is contained in your body through conscious embodiment (I recommend reading Wendy Palmer's great, simple book The Intuitive Body); also the power of focusing shows how to work with a powerful yet simple body-listening technique that taps into more of your wisdom; getting our bodies back discusses how we can use our physical habits and patterns as keys to where our psychological suffering originated; emotional intelligence shows how the usual view of I.Q. (intelligence) as a determinant of success is limited by omitting the wisdom of our emotions....there are so many good sources that all point to our body and emotions as whole worlds of "us" that we don't always access.
- other books: the wisdom of the enneagram discusses the nine personality types and how to work with yours (and take one of the great on-line tests at The Enneagram Institute to determine your enneagram type - I recommend the full RHETI test for $10);a brief history of everything provides a 10,000-foot overview of, well, everything; you are what you say shows a doctor's ideas that communication helps determine our health - another incredibly helpful approach to communication is non-violent communication which is supported by wonderful NVC small-groups that are probably meeting in an area near you; ....more to come as I contain my excitement and try to offer only a representative short list.
- consider buying a book or two of poetry to find new ways of seeing yourself and the world: Rumi, Mary Oliver, Kabir, Hafiz, Denise Levertov, Sheri Hostetler...or browse through collections of mixed poetry authors to find a poet that you connect with.
- gay spirituality in Bay Area/nationally - I'm working on a list of resources for this.
- gay therapists - I'll put a list up soon, including different types of therapy that seem most useful (clue: see 'Body Wisdom' above)
- green web hosting! Not directly related to Integral LIfe Coaching, but Thinkhost are earth-supportive, human-supportive people to host your website. Click on the image below for more info...
