Resources

"Leap mindfully into the flow..."

Follow your intuition (or your nose) and rummage through this pile of helpful gems - something will be just right for you.  Please feel free to contact Dean if you would like further information on any of these resources:

  • Dailygood and Daily Om:  browse through their archives, or sign up for for practical, inspiring daily emails (I find Daily Om particularly interesting)
  • how can you become happier?  Take a useful happiness survey (click on the VIA Signature Strengths questionnaire) and then use the results to tap your top 5 strengths as resources and compassionately develop your 'bottom' 5 strengths.
  • volunteering - supporting others is a wonderful way to both connect with them and appreciate what we have.  Volunteermatch.com is a great site to evaluate options for connection into and giving back to the community in your area.
  • a year to live:  how to live this year as if it were your last - read the small yet luminous book  of the same name by Stephen Levine, and consider becoming part of a small group; save money and trees by buying the book second-hand on amazon (all the book references on this page link to amazon.com where you can click through on the 'used and new' tab to purchase second-hand books I've always found to be in as-new condition)
  • relate from your body instead of to it:  tap into the wisdom and intuition that is contained in  your body through conscious embodiment (I recommend reading Wendy Palmer's great, simple book The Intuitive Body); also the power of focusing shows how to work with a powerful yet simple body-listening technique that taps into more of your wisdom; getting our bodies back discusses how we can use our physical habits and patterns as keys to where our psychological suffering originated; emotional intelligence shows how the usual view of I.Q. (intelligence) as a determinant of success is limited by omitting the wisdom of our emotions....there are so many good sources that all point to our body and emotions as whole worlds of "us" that we don't always access.
  • other killer books:
    • consider buying a book or two of poetry to find new ways of seeing yourself and the way you view  the world.  Some poets that can shift your sight are Rilke, Rumi, Mary Oliver, Kabir, Hafiz, Denise Levertov, Sheri Hostetler, Alison Luterman, Kafke, Roethke, Billy Collins...or browse through collections of mixed poetry authors to find a poet that you connect with.
  • gay therapists - here is a Bay Area listing of gay psychotherapists.  Feel free to contact me for a no-charge chat about the appropriateness of therapy (gay or straight) for your needs.
  • green web hosting!  Not directly related to Integral Coaching, but Thinkhost are earth-supportive, human-supportive people to host your website.  Click on the image below for more info...
